How it all started
It started with covid. Furlough and retraining and starting over.
Shaun had worked in selling bicycles for a long time, but after years helping in the workshop, he finally got his qualifications.
He went to work in a bike shop in London, and was fixing expensive, fancy bikes. He started to covet gravel bikes and sold his mtb. He ended up racing people around Regents Park on his morning commute.
And we realised that there was nothing in our area for all the dedicated, obsessive cyclists. The ones who spent good money on their bikes (perhaps even more than on their cars) and had no one they could trust to service them.
Life continued, but sickness hit our family and changed everything. Andi’s dad was diagnosed with an aggressive cancer, and she spent the year travelling back and forth to help care for him. He finally came back to the UK to move into hospice care, and then Shaun’s mum was diagnosed with cancer.
We realised that the people we had seen working hard their whole lives were not getting to enjoy what they had built. And so we figured that we couldn’t talk about it anymore. We had to put it into action, finally have a go. And try to do some good with it while we could.
So that’s us, a family bike shop with a decade of experience in bikes, business, relationship building and marketing. One years’ experience in illness, grief and the importance of living your dreams.
We give 10% of our profits every month to different cancer charities, it’s at the heart of what we do, and we want to do more. So if you know how we can help, get in touch.
